No commentsOn the 13 December, a representative of the Republic of Sudan made the country’s official statement on climate change at the Bali summit. He thanked the Government of Indonesia for the good reception accorded to delegates from Sudan. Sudan, he said, is committed to signing the climate change convention and to building capacity of its national institutions to counter climate change. Sudan has engaged in many studies, and participated in all the scientific and logistic activities, and negotiations, to support planned development. Sudan believes that it is necessary to contribute in order to participate effectively at the UNFCCC. Sudan has taken the decision to continue developing in the fields of solar energy, forest management, land use, and improvement of pasture lands. Sudan is committed to implementing the UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol. It called for support for developing countries, especially in Africa, in the areas of financial support, capacity building and transfer of technology. Sudan assured all participating nations that it will continue participating actively in all climate change conventions beyond 2012.
