African countries suspend climate-change talks on Monday

African nations forced a suspension of the UN climate-change negotiations underway in Copenhagen yesterday.

They are concerned that the two tracks of formal negotiations could merge into a single agreement that effectively rejects new targets for industrialised countries under the Kyoto Protocol.
