A number of youths from the South Pacific have added their voice to the push for the target of a temperature increase of only 1.5 degrees Celcius as proposed by the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) to slow down the melting of ice in the Arctic that have caused sea level rises.
Maylene Sese, from the Solomon Islands, Rebbecca Asigau, from Papua New Guinea, expressed similar concerns about the impacts of sea level rises that are affecting their small island homes in the South pacific. Both are members of the Australian Youth Coalition on Climate Change.
Maylene Sese is also calling on Papua New Guinea to work alongside AOSIS despite its main agenda being REDD.
