Bangkok, October 7, 2009: Papua New Guinea has added its voice to growing criticism of developed nations, which poorer nations say are slowing the negotiations on greenhouse gas emission reduction pledges.

The criticisms comes amidst a stock-taking plenary session held over the weekend at the United Nation’s Bangkok Climate Change talks  currently underway.

At the heart to the talks is the new deal that will replace  the Kyoto Protocol when the current agreements expire in 2012. The Kyoto Protocol,  was signed by 183 countries plus the European Union,  and among other things deal with targets for cutting emissions.

Our world will never be the same ever again because of work of the so-called ‘brains’ who think that the world revolves around them. They come up with all sorts of ‘technology’ to improve mankind’s livelihood but they have succeeded in establishing trends that are now eventually catching up on us now. The tribal people groups all over the world are now waking up even though they did not contribute to the green-house effects. The so-called developed nations must now take full responsibility and start cutting massively on their contributions to the green-house effects. They need to cut back on the emissions NOW before it becomes too late. As a Papua New Guinean, I love my island in Milne Bay, I love my village and I have all the food one would need and even though I do not have access to electricity to power lights in my house and village, I have the simple hurricane lamp and fire to give me light and keep me warm at night. However, the effects of climate change are at my doorsteps; the rising sea tides and the eroding away of my beaches, trees and cocunuts are a great concern to me and my people. Who is the cause of this, my people are asking? So I support the call that developed nations, must take full responsibility and stop slowing down the negotiations on greenhouse gas emission reduction pledges. We must all speak up NOW!
