Pinaki Roy

Pinaki Roy Working with The Daily Star, the leading English language daily newspaper in Bangladesh, for around six years as senior Reporter with special responsibility as deputy chief reporter. He started his journalism career in 1997 as a reporter for vernacular daily ’The Bhorer Kagoj’ when he was a graduate student. He served there till 2002 before joining The Daily Star. He received an award for best environmental report in 2002 and in 2007, and also got Transparency International, Bangladesh’s award for best investigative report in 2004. Pinaki studied business studies with a major in Accounting at University of Dhaka. Though he does not have any formal education in journalism, it is his passion that made him pursue a career in journalism. He sees journalism not only as a responsible profession but also a lifestyle.

Bangladesh, on the second day of the UN Climate Change Conference here, has demanded that an international climate change adaptation centre under UN auspices should be set up in Dhaka. The centre would research ways of adapting to climate change.
