Mike Shanahan
Mike is the press officer at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). He works internally with members of the IIED Climate Change Group on their communications and externally with journalists to support their reporting of climate change. Before joining IIED, Mike was news editor at the SciDev.Net news agency, covering science and developing countries. At SciDev. Net, he both reported on international climate change policy and research, and edited articles on the topic by journalists in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Mike has a PhD in tropical rainforest biology and is the founder of the Research and Media Network, an online social network for journalists, science communicators and others to improve the communication of research findings.
