John Mbaria

John Mbaria works in Kenya as an Environment Correspondent with ‘The EastAfrican’; a regional weekly published by the Nation Media Group Ltd and read in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Since late 2000, he has been carrying out general and investigative reporting as well as analytical coverage of various newsworthy developments in wildlife conservation, destruction of forests, environmental pollution, climate change, the gradual proliferation of genetically modified organisms in Kenya and elsewhere in Africa. Mbaria also contributes to other news outlets including Daily Nation, Sunday Nation as well as the Greenpeace Magazine of Germany and is occasionally contracted by several Kenya-based UN bodies and international research institutes to do media work. He is a two-time winner of the Peter Jenkins Award for East African Conservation Journalism and holds Masters of Arts in Planning.
