Published two reports on climate change: Deserts are carbon-free powerhouses based on a thematic report of the UNEP on solar power in the deserts. Worked as sub-editor in the Daily Purbokone, a local vernacular daily of Bangladdesh for nine years since 1989. Worked in different areas including politics and governance and environment. The two reports submitted with the application form for Panos, EJN and IIED fellowship. one was titled-Climate change to take heavy toll on cereal production on the impact of climate change on cereal production of Bangladesh.

United Nations Environment Programmes (UNEP) here today launched a ambitious initiative to address climate change issues and meet the urgent need to de-carbonize the global economy. Under the initiative the UNEP in cooperation with UN Environmental Group has established ‘Climate Neutral Network (CN Net)’ with an aim to federate the nations, cities, local authorities, communities and companies which would work to be ‘carbon neutral’ by bring their emission to zero level.

IPCC urges Governments to Intensify Renewable Energy Development

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) established by UNEP and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) urge the government to intensify their efforts for renewable energy to stabilize the carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere at between 535 to 590 ppm (parts per million) in 2050 to avoid catastrophic change of climate.

UNEP report links Climate Change with impacts on Natural Cleaning Mechanisms of the World’s Oceans

According to a new UNEP report, climate change is slowing down the ocean thermohaline circulation and continental shelf “flushing and cleaning” mechanisms increasing the risk of more pollution and making many productive fishing grounds as dead zones.

The three-day meeting of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Governing Council and Global Environment Ministers Forum (GEMF) ended here today with the recommendation of 140 governments to develop UNEP as a more efficient, focused and results-based organization better able to meet the future environmental challenges.
